Terroirs by LQV shines a light on the quintessence of French wine and character across two stunning terraces, a bar and dining area above Lyndhurst Terrace.
Open from 3pm through to 12am from Tuesday to Sunday, this relaxed wine bar covering more than 2,000 sq. ft offers the very best wines available in Hong Kong. The premium experience equates to a Michelin-starred wine list without the Michelin prices or requisite ceremony.
From total wine novices through to self-confessed wine obsessives, Terroirs by LQV's inclusivity ensures that there is a glass or bottle to suit every guest. With more than 2,000 wine references, there are 300 bottles of wine priced below $500, right the way up to bottles at the $220,000 mark.
Biodynamic, organic and natural wines feature prominently across a list which represents the culmination of the team's decades of experience and carefully cultivated relationships working across the world of French wine production.
Hong Kong-based designers LC Studio have crafted the beautiful interiors which transport guests to the soft tones and colours of rural France through the use of wood, stone and terracotta, while the entrance is crowned by a vine to reflect the deep roots of terroir.
Founder Hugues Rondouin, director of LQV Group, explains what sets Terroirs by LQV apart: "'Terroir' refers in part to the soil of a region, but it speaks to so much more: a unique locale where wine is produced, a sense of place - but also uniquely French characteristics. We're proud to celebrate the unique savoir-faire of French winemakers and artisanal producers, both in France and here in Hong Kong, through our best-in-class wine list and food."
LQV was founded as a wine bar and bottle shop in Paris in 2010, with the first Hong Kong location opening in Wan Chai in 2014. It was the first of its kind in the city, a wine bar and shop selling world-class wines – the kind that would previously only have been found within high-end hotels and fine-dining restaurants – in a casual and rustic setting. A Central location was added in 2015, LQV Singapore opened in 2016, and more retail locations expanding into French fine foods (La Crémerie, La Boucherie) followed shortly thereafter. Terroirs by LQV is the group’s next stage of evolution, a culmination of over a decade of experience, offering a new kind of setting to enjoy French food and wine with customers both old and new.
Warm, approachable, engaging and hugely knowledgeable, Terroir by LQV's team of French and Chinese sommeliers are the perfect guides through France's extraordinary wine landscape.
Sommelier Brandon Wong explains: "As the most passionate wine fans you can find, our approach is light and always welcoming, meaning that guests may visit us for an afternoon glass - and end up staying through the evening. That's the French way."
Hugues Rondouin explains how food adds further to the Terroirs by LQV experience: "We are first and foremost a wine bar, with our focus proudly fixed on the finest fruits of the vine. But naturally we are also food lovers, so our dynamic young team continues with French cheesemakers, bakers and butchers, who ensure that the finest quality cheeses, charcuterie are also available to pair perfectly with our wines."
With food available from 3pm – and lunch set to launch from September – guests will be able to choose from beautifully-executed classic French plates that are all crafted in-house.
All the dishes, such as pissaladière, the famous anchovy and onion tart from Nice, or pâté en croûte, made entirely in-house with Noir de Bigorre pork and Maison Samaran foie gras, use only the finest quality ingredients.
The Croque Monsieur is another celebration of the best produce available, in a decadent combination of Charcuterie Bobosse truffle ham and Janier 18-month Comte cheese on homemade bread.
Indeed, for breads, patisserie and more, LQV's bakery is unmatched in Hong Kong and continues to supply legendary Michelin-starred restaurants, as well as many of the city's private members' clubs.
Likewise artisanal cold cut platters and cheese boards reflect the finest French producers, while a map of France on the menu highlights the country's finest artisanal suppliers who all proudly fly the flag for their terroir.
Terroirs by LQV is officially open from Thursday 30th June.
