[HONG KONG, JUNE 2026] In the twelve months since Jean-Pierre first opened on Bridges Street, the establishment has been a host and witness to celebrations galore, anchoring itself firmly within the neighbourhood as a larger-than-life outpost of Parisian bistro culture.

Its approach to hospitality, which on any given night features bowtied captains weaving between revellers to deliver all manner of Cornichon Martinis and Poulets de Simone, has won the restaurant recognition from the Michelin Guide, the Star Wine List and Tatler Best, including, most recently, the Best Service award at Tatler Best Hong Kong & Macau 2026.

To mark its first anniversary, Jean-Pierre will introduce a month-long series of culinary and cultural programming throughout July, focusing on the timeless appeal of the French capital's classic dining rooms and the endless allure of la cuisine verité — a culinary philosophy prioritizing honest and unpretentious dishes that emphasise natural flavour and excellent ingredients over complex preparations.

Central to the anniversary celebrations is Hommage aux Bistrots de Paris, a dedicated menu of bistro classics inspired by some of Chef John’s favourite bistros from his travels to the City of Light. Priced at HK$988, the nine-dish degustation begins on a decadent note with the Pâté de Campagne prepared with Iranian pistachios and Martell V.S.O.P. in a nod to the 146-year-old Brasserie Lipp, and an Oeuf Mayonnaise incorporating Japanese free-range eggs and finely diced seasonal vegetables that pays homage to La Fontaine de Mars, opened in 1908, just a stone’s throw from the Eiffel Tower.

Guests will also find a Loup de Mer – sea bass basted in butter and finished with a vodka beurre blanc in appreciation of Le Duc in Montparnasse – and a classic Cordon Bleu de Poulet stuffed with Bentz ham and Le Gruyère AOP, honouring the restaurant’s friends at Paris’ charming Bistrot des Tournelles. Sides such as the classic Artichaut Vinaigrette from Bistro Paul Bert and the decadent Purée de Pommes de Terre inspired by Le Voltaire round out the savoury selection.

The desserts are redolent of Paris in the summertime, thanks to a special rendition of Fruits Rouges à la Crème Fraîche – macerated summer berries with whipped crème fraîche in the style of Chez L'Ami Louis, a Parisian institution since 1924 – alongside the Mousse au Chocolat, featuring whipped 60-percent dark chocolate mousse seasoned with fleur de sel, paying tribute to a favourite dish from the acclaimed Le Bon Georges. The degustation will run alongside a rotating chalkboard of daily features throughout July.

And what’s a birthday without some fine drinks and a bit of debauchery? Curated specially for the month of July, the Cocktail du Soir is the Hemingway Champagne, a potent and celebratory mix of French bubbles and absinthe, named for the iconic American novelist who came up with the recipe during a deep-sea fishing rescue, that will have guests dancing on tables in a flash.

The anniversary also marks a year of cultural initiatives inside the oxblood marble and wood-panelled space, notably the success of Mardi Rouge, the monthly salon that integrates live piano programming with nighttime dining, returning this September with an all-new artistic programme.

“When we opened Jean-Pierre, we were inspired by the Bistrot Paul Berts and Brasserie Lipp, institutions that we love that have also stood the test of time for decades, even centuries,” shares co-founder Marc Hofmann. “Witnessing how Hong Kong has embraced us in just this first year has been incredibly moving. Jean-Pierre has grown into exactly what we envisioned—a place where the wine flows freely, the laughter is loud and the sense of joie de vivre is the real heartbeat of the room."

"For this anniversary menu, we are paying direct homage to the legendary Parisian institutions that defined the golden age of bistros,” says Chef John Troupis. “Crafting these dishes is an exercise in la cuisine vérité: we aren't looking to reinvent these historical plates. Instead, our goal is to honor their lineage through rigorous technique, delivering the absolute best versions of these Parisian classics that Hong Kong has ever tasted."

As a special sweet treat for July, Jean-Pierre joins forces with Hong Kong’s favourite gelateria Messina on Cointreau-versial, a playful flavour inspired by the bistro’s love of classic French indulgence. The limited-edition creation brings together chocolate mousse, crème fraîche and a bright splash of Cointreau, the French orange liqueur, landing somewhere between dessert trolley nostalgia and late-night Parisian mischief, available all of July.

The Hommage aux Bistrots de Paris menu will be served beginning on July 1st.
