[Hong Kong, October 2023] – Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Clifford Weiner as General Manager of Island Shangri-La with immediate effect.
With over 13 years of experience with the Shangri-La Group, Mr. Weiner brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role as General Manager of Island Shangri-La. Mr. Weiner joined the Shangri-La Group in 2010 as Executive Assistant Manager of Food and Beverage at Shangri-La Singapore and has since held various leadership positions within the Group.
As General Manager of Traders Hotel Singapore in 2013, Mr. Weiner oversaw the establishment of the new Jen brand, helping to establish its positioning and overseeing the full renovation and transformation of the Traders Hotel into Hotel Jen Singapore Tanglin.
In 2016, Mr. Weiner opened the Hotel Jen flagship in Beijing, making it a successful benchmark for the Jen brand. Here, he created a unique local community through partnerships, collaborations and events that immersed guests into locally authentic experiences, including the launch of Trainyard, a commercial gym and fitness centre which successfully captured top market positioning.
Mr. Weiner’s most recent position was Project Director at Island Shangri-La, where from 2022 onwards, he worked towards a repositioning and relaunch of the property as an urban oasis, with a renewed focus on the leisure and family markets. He successfully led several initiatives including the launch of YUN WELLNESS, a brand-new wellness concept that has become a blueprint for other Shangri-La properties around the globe.
In his new role as General Manager, Mr. Weiner will oversee the daily operations of Island Shangri-La and continue to drive its strategic growth, including the extensive enhancement of guestrooms, continue to elevate YUN WELLNESS’ offerings and introduce new family rooms and facilities.
His extensive experience in the hospitality industry and success in launching new initiatives position him to lead Island Shangri-La to greater heights.
Mr. Weiner concludes: “I am delighted to be stepping into the role of General Manager for Island Shangri-La, a true stalwart of luxury hospitality in Asia and the flagship for Shangri-La Group.
